I returned to Jazzercise this morning after a week off and came home to weed the front beds. I’d say my energy level is good. It’s probably more accurate to say I’m good in short bursts, but the bursts are getting longer between naps.
Putting exercise on my calendar has not been easy. I used to attend classes and work out when I could fit it around my work schedule. That meant that some weeks I managed to get three classes in and some weeks only one or none. Then the cancer experts in Boston told me that regular exercise is best thing I can do to prevent recurrence. But it still feels awkward to make my workout routine a priority in my life. My oncology social worker suggested I put the Jazzercise classes in my day-timer and then that time isn’t available for other things. After so many years of accommodating my schedule around everything and everyone else, what a strange concept to ask others to accommodate my fitness schedule.
It’s all about finding balance.
