Of course there are a few oddballs in every crowd and my circle of family and friends are no exception. Here are the latest musical additions to my treatment routine as recommended by those trying to be supportive and/or humorous.
Under the category "And you thought radiation humor was in bad taste":
- Up! by Shania Twain, who sings that "it's about as bad as it could be . . . even my skin is acting weird."
- Shimmer by Shawn Mullins who croons about someone who is "born to radiate"
- Shiny, Happy People by REM. Is this supposed to be reference to my "glowing" and "radiant" nature?
- In the Waiting Line by Zero 7
- Death Comes a Knocking by The Duhks is a powerful song with the line, "death came a knocking on my preacher's door and she bucked her shoes and went down to the Jordan shouting, 'Hallelujah.'"
- Rescue Me by Alarm, who sings "Take me now, I'm so tired."
- Breathe by Anna Nalick
- I'm Going Home by the Sacred Harp Singers on the Cold Mountain soundtrack
- Don't Panic by Coldplay
- Collide by Howie Day, who sings "Even the best fall down sometime."
- Born to Run by Emmylou Harris
- Runaway Feeling by The Thorns
- Blue Sky by The Allman Brothers
- Johnny's Garden by Stephen Stills
- Holy as a Day is Spent by Carrie Newcomer, who suggests that blessing can be found in the ordinary stuff of life like red lights and washing dishes. I'll add cancer treatment.
- Safe in the Arms of Love by Martina McBride
I appreciate all the suggestions. I'm certainly expanding my musical tastes, but you can stop sending that twangy, country stuff.
By the way: voting on the funky socks I'll wear stops tomorrow. Vote now.
