All the Right Notes

Your musical suggestions have led to a rather eclectic, and in some cases, bizarre, mix of tunes for the lead-lined room. I’m not familiar with all of the artists, and the juxtaposition of some of them was rather interesting. Nevertheless you’re all doing a fine job of assessing my mental state and suggesting appropriate songs.

Today, I started with “What Do You Do With a B.A. in English (It Sucks To Be Me)” from the Avenue Q Broadway musical, and by the time I actually started radiation, Mary-Chapin Carpenter was belting out the advice to “keep on keeping the faith.” On the way out, I shared with my radiation tech that this song I was listening to for the first time, “I Wanna Be Sedated” by Two Tons of Steel, was a bit twangier than I was accustomed to. She said, “What do you expect being from Texas?” It’s hard to imagine how these techs get to know so well the details of a rotating set of patients.

On the way home, I listened to Marcus Hummon singing about “Hittin’ the Road” and some song called “Spit on a Stranger” by Nickel Creek. I also had “Zombie” by The Cranberries in which the singer seems angry about something being in her head. (NotherFrog informs me she’s singing about “the troubles” in Northern Ireland.) Of course the wisdom of the random “shuffle songs” option follows this metal, head-banging chorus with “Come Holy Spirit” by Anonymous 4.

I ended the day with the heretical, obscene and horrible theology of a bluegrass version of “God Will,” sent to us by our friend, YetNotherFrog. (This song is not for those without a strong sense of humor, for those easily offended, for Presbyterians, for those unaccustomed to profanity).
“Oh sinner do not stray from the straight and narrow way for the Lord is surely watching what you do, if you approach the devil’s den, turn ‘round, don’t enter in, lest the hand of the Almighty fall on you.”
Thanks. Keep the suggestions coming.

Yea Father Tom! In fact, you're so "high-tech" that you've figured at the comment function which still confuses many of us. I'm impressed.
